Jukebox blues is a collection that presents the rock and roll scene in the 1960s of Singapore, demonstrating the multicultural diversity of Singapore with a blend of Western and Asian influence. Popular music flourished in Singapore, and a number of local bands became extremely popular. However, the music scene at the time was often associated with a culture of drug use and disorderliness, This collection reinvents the idea of a Modern Jukebox, bringing back the nostalgic good times in a retro-futuristic style. This collection provokes the audience to ponder on the idea of how the nation’s economic development also signalled the downfall of the local bands’ commercial appeal.
